Stord Hospital

Stord Hospital is a local and acute-care hospital serving the municipalities of Sunnhordland, with a total population of about 50,000.

The hospital provides specialist healthcare services in medicine, surgery, radiology/laboratory services, and maternity and gynaecology. The Stord District Psychiatric Centre (DPS) is located nearby and offers specialist mental health services for adults, as well as children and young people.

Stord ambulance station is located on the same site, and the Sunnhordland inter-municipal emergency medical service is co-located with the hospital.

General information

There is no public pharmacy at the hospital, but there are several pharmacies in and around Leirvik town centre.

The nearest grocery store is Spar Ådland, Olvikvegen 52, 5416 Stord. It is 1.5 kilometers by car, or a 500 meter walk via the pedestrian path behind the ambulance station.

It is not permitted to take photos or videos of other patients or hospital staff. Photos or videos must not be shared on social media without the consent of those shown. 

We ask that you respect the privacy of everyone you encounter during your stay at the hospital, and that you only take photos or videos of your own family and friends.

Cafeteria

The public cafeteria is located on the lower ground floor.

Opening hours

Monday-Friday: 11:00-14:00.

It is closed at weekends and on public holidays.

Please bring any regular medication you take. It may take some time to obtain the same medication from the pharmacy.

Please leave valuables at home. Theft can occur in hospitals.

Bring comfortable clothing and suitable, sturdy footwear. Walking barefoot is not permitted due to hygienic reasons.

Bring toiletries such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, a comb, deodorant and, if needed, an electric shaver. Also bring assistive devices you depend on, for example a walking stick, crutches, wheelchair etc.

Good hygiene is an important factor in ensuring patients receive good care. 

Parking

  • Parking for patients and visitors is located close to the hospital. You must pay a fee to park. 
  • The car park uses automatic number plate recognition. You will receive an invoice from ParkPay after exiting.

You may drive up to the main entrance to drop off passengers if needed.

Blood donors

Reserved parking spaces are available near the main entrance.

Dialysis patients

Dialysis patients have free parking. Please inform dialysis staff on arrival to be registered.

The hospital grounds are smoke-free.

Inpatients who require nicotine products can contact the healthcare staff on their ward.
