Our hospitals and work locations

At Helse Fonna, you can work at several locations across the region. We are about 4300 employees with a shared goal to deliver specialised healthcare services to the 180 000 people who live in our regional area.

You will join a broad and diverse professional community – spanning surgery, orthopaedics, oncology, gynaecology and obstetrics – where our hospitals play a vital role for both patients and local communities.

Haugesund Hospital

Haugesund Hosptial is a large acute-care hospital offering a wide range of specialties across its catchment area. We provide services in internal medicine, surgery, radiology/imaging, maternity/obstetrics, gynaecology and fertility, habilitation, and specialised mental healthcare.

Here, you will have city life, cafés and a scenic waterfront promenade and restaurants just steps away – the hospital is located in the heart of Haugesund, a coastal city with a population of around 40,000 people. The area offers easy access to nearby islands reachable by boat, many hiking trails, and mountain areas just a 1-2 hour drive away.

Stord Hospital

Stord hospital is a local and acute-care hospital offering internal medicine, surgery, radiology/laboratory services and maternity/gynaecology. In the same area, you’ll also find Stord DPS (District Psychiatric Centre), which provides mental health services for both adults and children/young people.

On the island of Stord, home to around 19,000 inhabitants, you can combine meaningful work with a daily life close to the sea, restaurants and great outdoor opportunities – while still having easy access to larger cities such as Haugesund, Bergen and Stavanger.

Odda Hospital

Odda Hospital is an acute-care hospital serving the people of Hardanger, a mountainous region of outstanding natural beauty, located by the fjord and close to several national parks.

The hospital, located in the fjordside town of Odda with around 5,000 inhabitants, offers both medical and surgical outpatient clinics, an operating theatre/anaesthesia, and an oncology day unit. The ambulance station and Folgefonn DPS (District Psychiatric Centre) are also located on the same site.

Valen Hospital

Valen Hospital is a psychiatric hospital established in 1910, providing treatment for adults who need psychosis care and secure psychiatric services, as well as acute psychiatric services for the regions of Sunnhordland and Hardanger. Valen has several inpatient wards and also offers outpatient and ambulant services.

Valen Hospital is located in a small community with around 800 inhabitants, offering a green and peaceful setting by the fjord, with nature and walking trails that make it easy to unwind after work.
