Høyrselstest hos barn

Val av testmetodar ved utgreiing av høyrselstap hos barn er avhengig av alderen og evna barnet har til å samarbeide. Det kan vere aktuelt å nytte fleire testar for å komme fram til eit ønskt resultat.

Før

For barn som er store nok til å forstå er det ein fordel om foreldra snakkar med barnet før timen, slik at barnet er førebudde på kva som skal skje.

Under

Når vi skal i gang med undersøkinga prøver vi å få kontakt og skape tryggleik for barnet ditt. Testen blir utført på følgjande måte:

  • Vi kikkar i øyra med ei lommelykt (otoskop)
  • Ein mjuk silikonpropp som lagar lyd og trykk, blir sett mot øyregangen
  • Barnet får presentert ulike lydar i proppen og vi observerer eventuell reaksjon
  • Hovudtelefonar eller høgtalarar vil så nyttast for å presentere lydar eller ord

Om barnet ikkje kan eller ønskjer å medverke til denne typen høyrselstesting kan vi teste høyrselen med ulike måleinstrument.

Barn 0–3 år

For barn i alderen 0–3 år kan vi nytte følgjande målingar:

  • Tympanometri
  • Otoakustiske emisjonar OAE
  • Visual Response Audiometry (VRA)
  • Hjernestammeaudiometri (ABR)

Barn 3–6 år

For barn i alderen 3–6 år kan vi nytte følgjande målingar:

  • Tympanometri
  • Otoakustiske emisjonar OAE
  • Lekeaudimetri

Tympanometri

Ved tympanometri får barnet ein liten propp i øyregangen. Tympanometri blir nytta for vurdering av mellomøyrefunksjonen.

Sjølve målinga medfører ikkje ubehag for pasienten. Det kan opplevast som eit lite dottsanseinntrykk, men det hender at barnet motset seg å få proppen sett inn i øyregangen.

Testen blir nytta på alle aldersgrupper.

Otoakustiske emisjonar OAE

Dette er ei objektiv høyrselsmåling der vi testar funksjonen til det indre øyret. Denne testen blir også brukt til høyrselsscreening av alle nyfødde.

Testen blir gjennomført ved å setje ein liten propp i øyregangen til barnet og sende klikkelydar inn i øyret.  Desse klikkelydane genererer under normale forhold ein respons i dei såkalla hårcellene i det indre øyret som blir fanga opp av måleutstyret.

Visual Response Audiometry (VRA)

Ved VRA blir høyrselen testa ved at barnet snur seg mot eit bilete eller ei leike som respons på ein lydstimulus. Denne testen blir utført på dei minste barna, før dei er modne nok for å samarbeide til lekeaudiometri.

Hjernestammeaudiometri (ABR)

Ved ABR blir testa den elektriske responsen til sentralnervesystemet på at øret blir eksponert for lyd. Elektrodar blir tapte på huda og det blir proppar plasserte i øyregangane.

Dei minste barna kan undersøkjast sovande, medan eldre barn som oftast må undersøkjast i narkose.

Lekeaudiometri

Høyrselsmåling blir kalla audiometri. Høyrselen blir undersøkt ved å registrere responsen til pasienten på ulike tonefrekvensar og lydstyrke. Resultatet blir presentert i eit audiogram.

Først øver ein saman med barnet, men etter kvart skal barnet åleine respondere på lyden. Eitt øre blir testa av gongen. Kor mange frekvensar som blir testa varierer, då dette avheng kor godt barnet samarbeider.

Om det er behov for vidare utgreiing, behandling og oppfølging avheng av resultata av undersøkinga.

Stord: Høyrselsentralen ligg i 1. etasje i den kvite bygningen ved sida av hovudbygget.

Odda: ØNH-poliklinikken ligg i 1. etasje på Odda sjukehus. Poliklinikken har eige venterom.

Ved tilpassing av høyreapparat, anbefaler vi at pasienten har med seg følge/pårørande.

Praktisk informasjon

Patients who require overnight accommodation can call our contact centre by phone on 52 73 90 00. Please notify us well in advance.

Hospital hostel

We can offer simply furnished rooms in our hostel, located about 50 metres from the hospital. The room has a direct telephone connection to the surgical monitoring station and also includes an extra bed if you are accompanied by a relative.

The hostel has shared kitchen and bathroom facilities. If you require an evening meal, this must be brought with you.

Keys can be collected from the reception desk, located next to the main entrance on the ground floor of the hospital. The reception is staffed from 07:30 to 18:00, Monday to Friday. If you arrive after 18:00, please ring the doorbell and a member of our staff will assist you.

You will receive an invoice for your stay at the hostel.

You may contact Patient travel - Helsenorge for information about travels to and from public treatment facilities. 

Alternative accommodation in Odda

If you have been instructed to have blood tests taken, you can go to the laboratory on the lower ground floor (basement level) at Odda Hospital.

Please take a queue ticket on arrival.

Some patients are prioritised for blood sampling, and we ask for your understanding.

Cafeteria

The cafeteria on the 6th floor is available to patients, visitors and staff.

Opening hours

Monday to Friday from 09:30 to 15:30. It is closed on weekends and public holidays.

The patient cafeteria on the 4th and 5th floor is only available for patients.

Many of the wards have their own dining rooms with simple self-service available for patients. Please contact your ward for information.

Kiosk

There is a Narvesen kiosk on the ground floor where you can buy food, sweets, magazines and other items.

You can change your appointment up to 48 hours before your scheduled visit. This can be done through helsenorge.no or by contacting us by phone on 52 73 90 00. Our contact centre is open from 07:30 to 15:30. 

On helsenorge.no, you will find information about your appointment in your appointment letter.

Please check in at the reception desk at the main entrance when you arrive. You can pay at the counter or by using Vipps.

The nearest grocery store is Spar Ådland, Olvikvegen 52, 5416 Stord. It is 1.5 kilometers by car, or a 500 meter walk via the pedestrian path behind the ambulance station.

The nearest grocery store is Bunnpris, located 700 metres from the hospital. The address is Hjøllo 1, 5750 Odda.

The multi-storey car park north of the hospital is reserved for patients and visitors. You must pay a fee to park. 

You can pay by cash or card at the parking machines, or by using the EasyPark app.

There is no number plate recognition at the car park. You must start and stop your parking session yourself using the EasyPark app. 

Prices

The parking fee is NOK 25 per hour. The maximum daily rate is NOK 155.

Haugesund Parkering Drift AS is responsible for managing the car park and the parking areas in front of the main entrance. Any complaints regarding parking fees should be directed to them. Information is available on the parking machines.

There are three charging points available for electric vehicles. 

Reserved parking

Reserved spaces for disabled parking are located outside the main entrance. Please remember to place the parking permit clearly visible in the windscreen. 

There are reserved spaces for blood donors and dialysis patients in the multi-storey car park. These are marked with dedicated signs. If you are entitled to use these spaces, you will be issued with a parking permit by the department where you receive treatment.

  • East side / rear, near the river or the eye clinic

  • Parking for patients and visitors is located close to the hospital. You must pay a fee to park. 
  • The car park uses automatic number plate recognition. You will receive an invoice from ParkPay after exiting.

There is no public pharmacy at the hospital, but there are several pharmacies in and around Leirvik town centre.

The pharmacy is located on the ground floor, in the corridor past the reception desk.

It is not permitted to take photos or videos of other patients or hospital staff. Photos or videos must not be shared on social media without the consent of those shown. 

We ask that you respect the privacy of everyone you encounter during your stay at the hospital, and that you only take photos or videos of your own family and friends.

The hospital grounds are smoke-free.

Inpatients who require nicotine products can contact the healthcare staff on their ward.

Please bring any regular medication you take. It may take some time to obtain the same medication from the pharmacy.

Please leave valuables at home. Theft can occur in hospitals.

Bring comfortable clothing and suitable, sturdy footwear. Walking barefoot is not permitted due to hygienic reasons.

Bring toiletries such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, a comb, deodorant and, if needed, an electric shaver. Also bring assistive devices you depend on, for example a walking stick, crutches, wheelchair etc.

Good hygiene is an important factor in ensuring patients receive good care. 

Free wireless internet is available for patients, next of kin and visitors.
