Lysbehandling av gulsott hos nyfødte

Mange nyfødde får gulsott etter fødselen. Hos dei fleste forsvinn dette av seg sjølv i løpet av to veker. Gulsott er enkelt å behandle med lysbehandling.

Gulsott er vanlig blant nyfødte, men det er sjelden farlig. Hos de fleste babyer forsvinner gulsott etter en uke eller to uten behandling. Dersom gulsott forverres etter hjemkomsten, bør du oppsøke lege.

Eit nyfødd barn har mange raude blodceller (høg blodprosent) og når desse blir brote ned, blir det danna bilirubin som eit avfallsstoff. Samtidig er levra til den nyfødde umoden og klarer ikkje skilje ut det ekstra bilirubinet kroppen produserer. Gulsott oppstår når det blir for mykje bilirubin i blodet til barnet. Dette får huda, det kvite i auga og innsida av munnen til å sjå gult ut.

Gulsott opptrer vanlegvis to til fire dagar etter fødselen og forsvinn hos dei fleste av seg sjølv i løpet av dei neste to vekene. Unntaksvis kan konsentrasjonen av bilirubin i blodet bli så høg at behandling er nødvendig.

Dersom gulsotta blir alvorleg, kan ein merke at barnet blir slapt, søvnig, og kanskje ikkje er så interessert i å ete. Dersom barnet er synleg gul i panna, i det kvite i auga og på hendene blir det tatt ei blodprøve for å finne ut om mengda bilirubin er så høg at den krev behandling.

Før

På avdelingen kan ein undersøke for gulsott ved å lyse med eit spesielt, handhaldt apparat i panna på barnet. Dersom den viser forhøya verdi, tar vi ein blodprøve for å bekrefte at bilirubin er forhøya.

Lysbehandling

Barnet ligger avkledd i senga og får på mjuke briller for å beskytte auga.

Eit stativ med ledlyspanel som lyser blått, blir plassert cirka 20 centimeter over barnet. Lyset hjelper kroppen å bryte ned bilirubinet.

Det varierer kor lenge behandlinga varer. Som regel trengs lysbehandling i 12 timar, men alt frå 6 til 48 timar er vanleg.

Barnet ligg nokre timar i lys før vi tar ny blodprøve for å måle mengde bilirubin (avfallsstoff) i blodet til barnet. Når barnet ligg i lys, kan det ta pausar for å amme/ete.

Fiberoptisk lysbehandling

Ei anna form for lysbehandling blir kalla fiberoptisk lysbehandling. Her blir barnet pakka inn i eit teppe med fiberoptiske ledlys som påverkar bilirubinet i blodet til barnet på same måte som ordinær lysbehandling. Under fiberoptisk lysbehandling kan barnet få ligge på mor eller fars fang mens behandlinga skjer. Ofte kombinarer ein behandlingane ved at barnet ligg på ein lysmatte samtidig som barnet får lysbehandling ovenfra. Dette er gjerne kalla dobbeltlys-behandling.

Immunglobliner og utskiftingstransfusjon

Dersom mengda bilirubin er svært høg og lysbehandling ikkje senkar nivået tilstrekkeleg, kan utskifting av blodet til barnet vere nødvendig. Dersom årsaka til gulsotta er at mor og barn har forskjellig blodgruppe, kan det også vere nødvendig å gjere ein utskiftingstransfusjon med immunglobuliner. Det er eit legemiddel som vi gir intravenøst og hindrer at det blir så mykje bilirubin i blodet.

Etter

Dagen etter at lysbehandlinga er avslutta, blir det ofte gjort ein kontroll av mengda bilirubin i blodet til barnet. Det kan vere nødvendig med fleire kontrollar dei neste dagane.

    The multi-storey car park north of the hospital is reserved for patients and visitors. You must pay a fee to park. 

    You can pay by cash or card at the parking machines, or by using the EasyPark app.

    There is no number plate recognition at the car park. You must start and stop your parking session yourself using the EasyPark app. 

    Prices

    The parking fee is NOK 25 per hour. The maximum daily rate is NOK 155.

    Haugesund Parkering Drift AS is responsible for managing the car park and the parking areas in front of the main entrance. Any complaints regarding parking fees should be directed to them. Information is available on the parking machines.

    Electric vehicle charging

    There are three charging points available for electric vehicles. 

    Reserved parking

    Reserved spaces for disabled parking are located outside the main entrance. Please remember to place the parking permit clearly visible in the windscreen. 

    There are reserved spaces for blood donors and dialysis patients in the multi-storey car park. These are marked with dedicated signs. If you are entitled to use these spaces, you will be issued with a parking permit by the department where you receive treatment. 

    You can change your appointment up to 48 hours before your scheduled visit. This can be done through helsenorge.no or by contacting us by phone on 52 73 90 00. Our contact centre is open from 07:30 to 15:30. 

    On helsenorge.no, you will find information about your appointment in your appointment letter.

    The pharmacy is located on the ground floor, in the corridor past the reception desk.

    Opening hours

    Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:30.

    The patient cafeteria on the 4th and 5th floor is only available for patients.

    Many of the wards have their own dining rooms with simple self-service available for patients. Please contact your ward for information.

    Kiosk

    There is a Narvesen kiosk on the ground floor where you can buy food, sweets, magazines and other items.

    Monday to Friday: 06:30 - 21:00.

    Saturday: 09:00 - 20:00

    Sunday: 10:00 - 20:00

    Please bring any regular medication you take. It may take some time to obtain the same medication from the pharmacy.

    Please leave valuables at home. Theft can occur in hospitals.

    Bring comfortable clothing and suitable, sturdy footwear. Walking barefoot is not permitted due to hygienic reasons.

    Bring toiletries such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, a comb, deodorant and, if needed, an electric shaver. Also bring assistive devices you depend on, for example a walking stick, crutches, wheelchair etc.

    Vi har eigen inngang til avdelinga som kan brukast når hovudinngangen til sjukehuset er stengt. Gå opp trappa til høgre for det interkommunale legevaktsbygget, og følg gangvegen heilt til døra. Dersom døra er stengt, ringer du på ringeklokka til venstre for døra. Vi kjem og hentar deg.

    There is no public pharmacy at the hospital, but there are several pharmacies in and around Leirvik town centre.

    The nearest grocery store is Spar Ådland, Olvikvegen 52, 5416 Stord. It is 1.5 kilometers by car, or a 500 meter walk via the pedestrian path behind the ambulance station.
