Gulsott hos nyfødte

Gulsott hos nyfødde barn er ein vanleg og som regel ufarleg tilstand som oppstår hyppig. Dei fleste nyfødde blir litt gule i huda og inne på augekviten frå andre til sjuande dag etter fødselen. Det forsvinn som oftast av seg sjølv innan kort tid, og har ingenting med smittsam gulsott å gjere.

Gulsott er vanlig blant nyfødte, men det er sjelden farlig. Hos de fleste babyer forsvinner gulsott etter en uke eller to uten behandling. Dersom gulsott forverres etter hjemkomsten, bør du oppsøke lege.

Årsakar

Dei fleste nyfødde barn som får gulsott, får det fordi leverfunksjonen enno ikkje er heilt moden. Vanlegvis fjernar levra vår det gule fargestoffet – bilirubin - frå blodet vårt. Det gule fargestoffet er eit avfallsstoff som kjem frå dei raude blodlekamane våre som ikkje er levedyktige.

Når raude blodlekamar døyr, blir blodfargestoffet hemoglobin frigjort og gjort om i levra til bilirubin, som blir fjerna frå blodet vårt via levra.

Fram til leverfunksjonen er moden vil det i dei første levedøgna skje ei opphoping av bilirubin i blodet. Det er då du ser gul farge i huda og i det kvite i auga på den nyfødde.

 

Utredning

Nærare halvparten av alle nyfødde får normal gulsott, og hos dei aller fleste vil tilstanden ikkje bli behandla.

Barn som er fødd for tidleg (premature barn) får oftare og kraftigare gulsott enn andre barn. Hos desse vil truleg gulsotta også vare lenger.

Dersom gulsotta er kraftig og kjem i første levedøgn, vil barnet bli kontrollert ved hjelp av blodprøvar og få tilpassa behandling om det er nødvendig.

Nokon gongar kan gulsott oppstå på grunn av for mange ikkje-levedyktige røde blodlegemar, der blodgruppene til mor og barn ikkje samsvarar med kvarandre. Som regel kan dette bli påvist ved hjelp av blodprøvar frå mor og barn.

Ein meir sjeldan og alvorleg form for gulsott kan oppstå når mor og barn har ulik rhesus-gruppe. Dette vil vere påvist før fødsel via blodprøver tatt frå mor i svangerskapet. Blodprøver tatt av mor og barn etter fødselen, vil bekrefte at blodet ikkje samsvarar.


Behandling

Ein liten del av alle nyfødde vil bli så gule at det er behov for lysbehandling. Dersom konsentrasjonen av bilirubin i blodet er for høg og gulsotta blir påfallande, vil det vere aktuelt å behandle barnet. Den enklaste behandlinga er lysbehandling.




Oppfølging

Barn som får nyfødd-gulsott kan bli trøytte, slappe og lite villige til å die. Ved gulsott treng barnet mykje væske og du bør amme hyppig.  Du kan gjerne late barnet liggje i dagslys, men ikkje i direkte sollys.

    The multi-storey car park north of the hospital is reserved for patients and visitors. You must pay a fee to park. 

    You can pay by cash or card at the parking machines, or by using the EasyPark app.

    There is no number plate recognition at the car park. You must start and stop your parking session yourself using the EasyPark app. 

    Prices

    The parking fee is NOK 25 per hour. The maximum daily rate is NOK 155.

    Haugesund Parkering Drift AS is responsible for managing the car park and the parking areas in front of the main entrance. Any complaints regarding parking fees should be directed to them. Information is available on the parking machines.

    Electric vehicle charging

    There are three charging points available for electric vehicles. 

    Reserved parking

    Reserved spaces for disabled parking are located outside the main entrance. Please remember to place the parking permit clearly visible in the windscreen. 

    There are reserved spaces for blood donors and dialysis patients in the multi-storey car park. These are marked with dedicated signs. If you are entitled to use these spaces, you will be issued with a parking permit by the department where you receive treatment. 

    You can change your appointment up to 48 hours before your scheduled visit. This can be done through helsenorge.no or by contacting us by phone on 52 73 90 00. Our contact centre is open from 07:30 to 15:30. 

    On helsenorge.no, you will find information about your appointment in your appointment letter.

    The pharmacy is located on the ground floor, in the corridor past the reception desk.

    Opening hours

    Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:30.

     

    It is not permitted to take photos or videos of other patients or hospital staff. Photos or videos must not be shared on social media without the consent of those shown.

    Cafeteria

    The cafeteria on the 6th floor is available to patients, visitors and staff.

    Opening hours

    Monday to Friday from 09:30 to 15:30. It is closed on weekends and public holidays.

    The patient cafeteria on the 4th and 5th floor is only available for patients.

    Many of the wards have their own dining rooms with simple self-service available for patients. Please contact your ward for information.

    Kiosk

    There is a Narvesen kiosk on the ground floor where you can buy food, sweets, magazines and other items. 

    Opening hours

    Monday to Friday: 06:30 - 21:00.

    Saturday: 09:00 - 20:00

    Sunday: 10:00 - 20:00

    Please bring any regular medication you take. It may take some time to obtain the same medication from the pharmacy.

    Please leave valuables at home. Theft can occur in hospitals.

    Bring comfortable clothing and suitable, sturdy footwear. Walking barefoot is not permitted due to hygienic reasons.

    Bring toiletries such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, a comb, deodorant and, if needed, an electric shaver. Also bring assistive devices you depend on, for example a walking stick, crutches, wheelchair etc.

    Good hygiene is an important factor in ensuring patients receive good care.

    Kveldstid etter kl. 19.00, helg og natt:

    Vi har eigen inngang til avdelinga som kan brukast når hovudinngangen til sjukehuset er stengt. Gå opp trappa til høgre for det interkommunale legevaktsbygget, og følg gangvegen heilt til døra. Dersom døra er stengt, ringer du på ringeklokka til venstre for døra. Vi kjem og hentar deg.

    There is no public pharmacy at the hospital, but there are several pharmacies in and around Leirvik town centre.

    The nearest grocery store is Spar Ådland, Olvikvegen 52, 5416 Stord. It is 1.5 kilometers by car, or a 500 meter walk via the pedestrian path behind the ambulance station.
