Hørselscreening hos nyfødte (OAE)

Vi tester høyrselen til alle nyfødte for å kunne oppdage eit eventuelt medfødt høyrselstap så tidleg som mogeleg, og då kunne setje i gang hjelpetiltak så raskt som mogeleg.

Før

Testen blir utført ved barselavdelinga helst tatt andre døgnet etter fødselen, på grunn av forholda i mellomøyret. Det er lettast å utføre testen mens barnet søv og er roleg.

Hørselscrrening av nyfødt baby
 

Vi registrerer otoakustiske emisjonar (OAE). Dette er ei objektiv høyrselsmåling, der vi testar funksjonen i det indre øyret. Vi set inn ein liten propp som inneheld ein mikrofon og ein høgtalar, i øyregangen til barnet. Høgtalaren sender klikkelydar inn i øyret. Ved tilarbeiding av klikkelydane blir det generert ein lyd i det indre øyret som vi via mikrofonen.  

Målinga er rask og smertefri. Ved respons på ei slik måling, er det lite sannsynleg at barnet har nedsett høyrsel.

Hos nokre barn får vi ikkje respons med OAE, og dette kan ha fleire grunner. Dersom barnet framleis har fostervatn eller fosterfeitt i øyregangen, eller har veldig tronge øyregangar kan det føre til at vi ikkje får respons. Det kan også vere tekniske forhold under undersøkinga som er årsak til manglande respons. Statistisk sett er det berre 2 - 3 av 1000 barn som vil vere høyrselshemma ved fødselen.

Etter

Viss responsen ikkje blir godkjent på begge øyrene før 2. levedøgn, vil barnet fulgt opp med vidare testing på øre-nese-hals-avdeling.

Det kan også være aktuelt å undersøke om barnet har gjennomgått ein spesiell virusinfeksjon i svangerskapet (CMV), som kan gje hørselstap. Dette blir gjort enkelt og smertefritt ved hjelp av ein spyttprøve frå barnet.

    Praktisk informasjon

    Patients who require overnight accommodation can call our contact centre by phone on 52 73 90 00. Please notify us well in advance.

    Hospital hostel

    We can offer simply furnished rooms in our hostel, located about 50 metres from the hospital. The room has a direct telephone connection to the surgical monitoring station and also includes an extra bed if you are accompanied by a relative.

    The hostel has shared kitchen and bathroom facilities. If you require an evening meal, this must be brought with you.

    Keys can be collected from the reception desk, located next to the main entrance on the ground floor of the hospital. The reception is staffed from 07:30 to 18:00, Monday to Friday. If you arrive after 18:00, please ring the doorbell and a member of our staff will assist you.

    You will receive an invoice for your stay at the hostel.

    You may contact Patient travel - Helsenorge for information about travels to and from public treatment facilities. 

    Alternative accommodation in Odda

    If you have been instructed to have blood tests taken, you can go to the laboratory on the lower ground floor (basement level) at Odda Hospital.

    Weekdays: 09:00-14:00

    Please take a queue ticket on arrival.

    Some patients are prioritised for blood sampling, and we ask for your understanding.

    The cafeteria on the 6th floor is available to patients, visitors and staff.

    Monday to Friday from 09:30 to 15:30. It is closed on weekends and public holidays.

    The patient cafeteria on the 4th and 5th floor is only available for patients.

    Many of the wards have their own dining rooms with simple self-service available for patients. Please contact your ward for information.

    There is a Narvesen kiosk on the ground floor where you can buy food, sweets, magazines and other items.

    The nearest grocery store is Spar Ådland, Olvikvegen 52, 5416 Stord. It is 1.5 kilometers by car, or a 500 meter walk via the pedestrian path behind the ambulance station.

    The multi-storey car park north of the hospital is reserved for patients and visitors. You must pay a fee to park. 

    You can pay by cash or card at the parking machines, or by using the EasyPark app.

    There is no number plate recognition at the car park. You must start and stop your parking session yourself using the EasyPark app.

    The parking fee is NOK 25 per hour. The maximum daily rate is NOK 155.

    There are reserved spaces for blood donors and dialysis patients in the multi-storey car park. These are marked with dedicated signs. If you are entitled to use these spaces, you will be issued with a parking permit by the department where you receive treatment.

    Bring toiletries such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, a comb, deodorant and, if needed, an electric shaver. Also bring assistive devices you depend on, for example a walking stick, crutches, wheelchair etc.

    Good hygiene is an important factor in ensuring patients receive good care.
